The image for the third chapter of Thy Kingdom Come focuses on God giving His people the Promised Land. The top of the image shows a young plant, representing the young nation of Israel planted in the land God had granted them. Beneath the surface, though, is an extensive root system. The roots of Israel ran deep, beginning with the promise of the Messiah made in the Garden of Eden, promised through Abraham and His descendants and given a spot to grow through the Exodus and the conquest. Even though the nation of Israel and its kings would eventually cease, the roots of the promise remained in the remnant of God’s people, and one day Jesus would arise from the roots of Israel to destroy the power of death forever.
